Hi,

were you able to setup VS as described in step 7? I see that you use VS 2008 while I was using VS 2005. I'm not sure if this settings remain the same.

Also do you have correct target in toolbar? I believe it should be "Windows CE 5.0 Device".

Hi,

I followed all your instructions, and finally, I can ping on the "Emulator for Windows CE" device and browse to web from it. But I can't deploy my Visual Studio 2008 project on it. It says here : "Device is not connected".

I'm using Windows XP SP3.
I disabled my FireWall.

Any ideas I can try please?

I've had the same issue and, after searching a bit, I found this could be caused by the limit in overlay icons windows allows to show (15 in total). This can be checked in the registry key stated here. As shown in the picture, there may be several entries, much more than the 15 allowed! They are applied in alphabetical order, therefore, if you count 15 from above and the "Tortoise" entries are out of range, the overlays won't be shown. At least, this is what I understood from what others posted elsewhere ;)

Therefore, check this registry key and see if the Tortoise entries are all included in the first 15. If they're not, you can make a work around - as suggested in this article. You may rename other keys (related to applications you use less, or don't mind skipping the overlays) so they appear lower in the list (for instance, adding a "z_" prefix or a "v" or anything that makes Tortoise go up).

So, if you don't have any keys named "Groove" thats ok. You don't have too, as I tried to explain. Just rename other entries (at your own risk). If, on the other hand, this registry key does not have more than 15 entries, then your problem may have indeed a different nature.
